Ultrasound FAQs

Will I receive my results on the day?

Results can be made available on the same day. To discuss them with our specialist GP you can book in a consultation for a detailed chat about their interpretation.

How long does an ultrasound take?

Most scans take between 15–30 minutes, depending on the area being examined. Your clinician will explain the process beforehand.

When will I receive my results?

Following the scan with our ultrasonographer, you can book in a consultation with our specialist GP’s to discuss the results. A full report will also be provided to you

Do I need to prepare for my ultrasound?

Preparation depends on the type of scan. Some may require fasting or a full bladder. Our team will provide clear instructions when you book your appointment.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes, you are welcome to bring a support person if needed, though only the patient will be in the scanning area during the procedure. We can also offer you a chaperone form one of our staff members.

Can I have an ultrasound if I am pregnant?

Yes. Ultrasound is safe and routinely used during pregnancy for monitoring and diagnostic purposes.
